Well today was a non-event in some respects……I had no treatment at all. The reason for that is, as I expected all along, the clinical trial drug is not working…at all. My PSA rose 33 points to 75 points…..all in 3 weeks. The protocol for the trial drug says that if my PSA goes up 25% or more twice in a row I have to get off…..a good rule, especially since it doesn’t work!
Plan B is to build up my body strength and weight (I now weigh in at 162) and then go back on the chemo, either Taxotere or a newer version…something else—tere. Doc says within 6 to 8 weeks. Well no…..at the past 3 week rate I would accumulate another 110 points or so in addition to the 75 I already have. I’m not going to let it catch that much ground!
Needless to say this was one of those days where one needs to reflect…go out in the sunshine with “your” good book, whichever one is yours, sit out there and begin drinking your brains out! (LOL)
When I come to….I’m going to have to (once again) make life decisions.
I am still as positive as ever about the outcome and who will win this war. Tonight I plan to rent “The Gladiator” with Russell Crow….kinda get me in the “ole” fightin’ mood!
Getting older has its advantages. (In my situation just getting older is an advantage!) But as we age we learn to recognize what’s important and it’s usually not what we spend our time worrying about.
Ya know, I would rather be considered Clever than Smart…..Smart is someone cerebral that teaches college and writes great books about cerebral stuff for other smart guys to read……Whereas Clever is...…..Robin Hood!
Stay tuned and know that I intend to get through this and will.
Thanks for the Spiritual Energy and Prayers…please don’t stop now!
Bob
