Welllll not exactly back from the dead but through what would have been a NADIR weekend, had I had the chemo treatment last Tuesday.
I did however get a treatment of the Aflibercept (the clinical trail drug). This is given intravenously as well and as I had predicted it does have side effects….as a matter of fact I wonder if I gave up the wrong one…not really!
My understanding is that I will feel the effects of the chemo for months to come, I still have no appetite….part of that could be the trial drug as well….I’m not able to tell yet which side effects come from what drug but so far it seems for sure that the “rasp” in my voice is from the clinical trial…..my voice changed as soon as they hung the bag! .....I kept hoping it would sound sexy but everybody says it sounds like Froggy from the “Lil Rascals”. My fingers are starting to glaze over so that must come from the trial as well. And I'm just trying to live and work around the fatigue.
The Doc has always said that the trial is the cause of the sinus issue and what has caused the dental problems. My feet continue to hurt every morning so I’ve decide to rename all of this to…….Hoof and Mouth!
Trust me none of this compares to how I would feel had I had the Taxotere. It’s nasty stuff but has saved my life so far.
Please keep in mind that I’m not in remission, I’m in controlled maintenance and if the Aflibercept doesn’t work the disease will begin to grow again…there is no cure….....yet!
At the end of the day though I’m as optimistic as ever that I will win this fight….I’ve already proven that I can kick it's ass………..and as I’ve said from the beginning…..this is not what’s going to kill me!
This weather on the East coast hasn’t helped much. I saw all the pictures on TV about the snow and cold they are getting in the mid-west and asked a friend…”isn’t this Michigan and Minnesota? Doesn’t it do this every year? They all seem so surprised!
Have a blessed Christmas and Holiday and please keep the Prayers and Spiritual Energy coming. It's so much a part of my success! Thank you all so much! B.
